Abstract
The recent publication of the Mexican Official Standard NOM-004-SEDATU-2023, which focuses on the structure and design of urban streets, responds to a critical need. Existing geometric design regulations, primarily developed for highways, do not provide adequate guidelines for urban environments. This gap has prompted the development of specific standards to regulate the planning and design of streets within human settlements in Mexico, encompassing pedestrian streets, traffic calming measures in urban areas, and the integration of multiple modes of transportation.
