Abstract

Greening cities means preserving or increasing climate-regulating services in urban environments. Strategies such as integrating and improving urban green infrastructure offer an effective solution to the challenge posed by rapid urbanization and increasing vulnerability to climate change. Some proven strategies include the strategic management of natural elements such as urban trees, parks, gardens, urban forests, green roofs, green walls, and rain gardens, which provide numerous benefits, including improved air quality, stress reduction, promotion of mental health, moderation of urban temperatures, and reduction of noise pollution. All these strategies offer a dual benefit: climate change adaptation and mitigation, and opportunities to create more livable, sustainable, and resilient cities.
