Abstract
This paper reflects on the elements that link biological and economical competition as the forces that motivate human actions and behaviors, based on a reinterpretation of the concepts of competition and biological succession postulated by human ecology, and applied to human communities living in the city. To this end, the document is supported by a bibliographical review and contrasts the positions of one of the most influential aspects of ecology —concerning human— interaction, with other authors of the economic discipline to demonstrate that economic rationality is how biological evolution preserves competition as a mechanism to ensure survival and the individual life plan. In this way, our conclusions manifest the urgency of incorporating the vision of human ecology as an ordering criterion for urban planning to improve the results of its implementation by modeling the mechanisms that govern it and not those of human nature itself.
Keywords:Social conflict, human ecology, economy geography, development planning, urban system, urban sociology.
