Monitoring of public space in the municipal seat of Coatepec, Veracruz in accordance with NOM-SEDATU 001-2021

Abstract

Public space is a fundamental component of the urban structure of cities. It is the place where public authorities demonstrate their effectiveness in allocating resources to improve urban quality of life. For this reason, the University Urban Observatory has, for several years, focused on monitoring public spaces within the Metropolitan Area of Xalapa, Veracruz.

Through the indicator of investment in public open space, the Observatory examines how and where public resources are allocated to parks, plazas, green areas, recreational spaces, and sports facilities across the municipalities of Xalapa, Banderilla, Emiliano Zapata, Tlalnelhuayocan, Coatepec, Rafael Lucio, and Jilotepec, which together constitute the metropolitan area of the capital city of the state of Veracruz.
